Elsa Maria Walter, 91, a long- time resident of Leroy PA., passed into the presence of her loving Savior on Friday, September 15, in Tucson, AZ with her family by her side.

Elsa was born on September 8, 1926 to the late Ralph and Xenia Erickson in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Olney High School.
On August 27, 1955 she married the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Walter in Philadelphia, PA. They were blessed with three children and shared over 54 years together before his passing on May 30, 2010. Elsa and Ted moved their family from Philly to the Leroy area in 1970 after spending many happy summers at their cabin in Wheelerville.

Elsa worked in the Canton Area Head Start Program and was an active member of the Canton Garden Club. She was a member of the Independent Baptist church of Towanda, PA. and was a faithful witness for Christ.

Elsa was blessed with the gift of ministering to others as she opened her heart and home to many. She also used her gift as an accomplished pianist to serve her Lord, but above all she showed sacrificial love and grace to her husband and family.

Elsa is survived by three children: daughters, Lisa Ann Kester (James), Tucson, Az, Dale Louise Gilmore (Randal), Fishers, IN and son, Ted Walter, Leroy, PA. as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at Leroy Independent Baptist Church in Leroy, on Saturday, September 23rd at 11am officiated by Rev. Ron Bly, her sons-in-law, Rev. James Kester and Rev. Randal Gilmore. Burial will follow in the Leroy Cemetery.   Those who wish may consider a memorial in Mrs. Walter's name to Sahuaro Baptist Church, 10361 East Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85748 and will be given to her favorite ministries.  The Pepper Funeral Home in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elsa, 'Mom', was a blessing in my life. A son in law couldn't ask for a better relationship with a mother in law. She put up with my faults and would often remind me of those matters that needed attention. Her prayers for me were faithful and will be sadly missed. She was an example of being about 'fishing' for lost ones, to me, to the day she slipped into the presence of her Lord. As I kissed her goodbye a few hours before she left this world, I said to her 'see you later'! ~ I Thessalonians 4:13-18
