Valerie L. Kisner, 27, of Granville Summit, PA passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

"God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be.
So he wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “come to me”.
You didn’t deserve what you went through, so he gave you rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain,
I could not wish you back, to suffer that again."

Born January 22, 1990 in Sayre, PA, Valerie Lynn was a daughter of Jessie Jo (Greg) (Quackenbush)  Zander of Granville Summit and Donald Kisner of Troy.
On Dec. 1, 2011; at the age of 20, she was diagnosed with a lung disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.  She had hoped to make it to her 28th birthday; but that was not to be.  Valerie fought this disease with grace and dignity.  She will always be remembered by her “never give up” attitude, and for her strength and bravery to endure this illness that she knew would end her life at an early age.  She fought this disease with all she had, and when she knew it would be no more, she decided to ‘leave this world’ on her own terms, by removing her medicines and facing this illness one last time.
Valerie loved to vacation in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN.  In her younger years, she loved to bowl, play softball and volleyball.  She was a 2010 graduate of Troy High School.  Valerie was an avid New England Patriots fan.  These past few years, while housebound, she loved spending time with her nephews who were the light of her life.  The family would like to thank the caring staff at the UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh, Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, Troy Ambulance Assoc. Arnot Health and Guthrie Hospice for the love and care that was provided to Valerie for the past six years of her life.
Besides her parents, surviving are her siblings; James (Kaitlyn) Kisner of Granville Summit, Greg Jr. (Katherine) Zander of Caseyville, IL and Becky Zander of Cincinnati OH, two nephews; Izak and Verac; whom she adored and they affectionately called her Val-Val, paternal grandparents; Laverne and Kathryn Kisner of Oklahoma, paternal grandmother, Nancy Swenson of Ulster, paternal grandfather, Burdette Clark of Col X Rds, several aunts, uncles and many cousins.  She also leaves her faithful pets; Sassy, Gizmo, Hades and Wednesday.
She was predeceased by grandparents; Aaron and Janet Quackenbush, Clem Clark, Albert “Pops” Zander and Lewis McClure.
Her family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton.   Per Valerie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.  Her ashes will be spread in the Great Smoky Mountains at a later date.  Since Valerie loved all kinds of animals, donations can be made in her name to Woodlands Wildlife Refuge at P.O. Box 5046 Clinton, NJ 08809 or to a charity of one’s choice.  Share memories and condolences at
