Anna Marie Staron,104, long-time resident of Blossburg, PA was called to her Heavenly home Friday evening, February 23, 2018, at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro.
Born September 5, 1913 in Arnot, she was one of three daughters of nine children of late Ignac and Mary Tokarz. Anna was married to Walter Staron for 36 years before his passing in 1972. They were blessed with one son, Robert.
Anna was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blossburg. She was St. Mary’s oldest parishioner and a former member of their Christian Mother’s Group.
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and caring for others. In earlier years, she enjoyed being very involved in church activities.
Surviving is her sister, Wanda Harnas of Corning, NY, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband Walter, she was predeceased by a son; Robert Staron, a sister; Helen Collins, six brothers; Joseph, Frank, Walter, Stanley, Edward and John Tokarz.
Calling hours are 4 – 6 p.m. Wednesday at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility (formerly Zwicharowski’s) at 314 Granger St. in Blossburg. The Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blossburg with Rev. Bryan Wright serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Those who wish may consider a memorial in Mrs. Staron’s name to St. Mary’s Catholic Church c/o Holy Child Rectory at 237 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA 16933 or a donation to the Hospice organization.
