Pastor Richard B. Martin, 87, of Monroeton, PA (Franklin Twp.) was called home to his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, November 13, 2017 at the Sayre Health Care Center.
Richard B. Martin, son of the late Noah and Anna (Bowman) Martin was born June 23, 1930 in Millway, PA in Lancaster County. He was married to the late Marian S. (Good) Martin who passed away on Dec. 30, 2015. Richard and Marian shared 63 years of marriage and raised three children. They resided in Reinholds and Ephrata, PA until 1966, when they felt the call of the Lord to move to Bradford County, to help with the work at the West Franklin Mennonite Church. Later Richard was ordained and served as Church Pastor for over 30 years. After his retirement, he became a member of the North Street Community Church. Richard was employed by E.H. Gochnauer Plumbing in Wheelerville, PA. He also was self-employed and owned and operated Martin’s Equipment and Supply Co. in West Franklin, PA offering plumbing and heating, used farm machinery, lawn, garden and building supplies until retiring in 2012. Richard was also an active member of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Surviving are three children; Donald (Debra) Martin of Mainsburg, PA, Lois (James) Bowman of Lancaster, PA Wilmer (Lorraine) Martin of Monroeton, PA, 14 grandchildren; Amber Martin, Heaven Martin, Donovan Martin, Emerson Kipp, Rhonda (Jeff) Hostetter, Melissa (Herb) Martin, Lorene (Kyle) Good, J. Curtis (Andrea) Bowman, Bethany (Craig) Martin, Daryl Bowman, Jason Martin, Kyle (Miriam) Martin, Katrina Martin and Justin (Julie) Martin,16 great grandchildren, three brothers; Harry (Mary Jane) Martin of Schaefferstown, PA, Raymond (Esther)) Martin of Farmersville, PA and James (Bonnie) Martin of Annville, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Marian, he was predeceased by two grandchildren; Ryan Dodge and Johanna Good, a brother and two sisters-in-law; Roy (Grace) Martin and Dorothy Martin.
Calling hours are 1:30 – 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at North Street Community Church at 177 North St. in Canton. Pastors Darren Peachy and Ben Hess will officiate the funeral service following visitation at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Beech Flats Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
