Richmond Bailey Young, 85, of Troy, PA, formerly of Gordonville, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Bradford County Manor.
Born December 10, 1932 in Sayre, PA, Richmond was a son of the late Russell and Lavella (Ross) Young. He was a 1950 graduate of Troy High School. On Feb. 18, 1950, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Janice Teribury. They were blessed with 59 years together before her passing on May 11, 2009. Richmond was a member of Westgate Baptist Church in Lancaster and a previous member of Sayre Baptist Church. He worked for Agway Petroleum in Wysox, PA for 25 years and later for Pendu Manufacturing, Inc. in New Holland, PA before he and Janice managed the Bird-In-Hand Village Inn in Lancaster County. Times shared with family were very special to Richmond. He was an avid hunter in earlier years. He also enjoyed many activities at the Bradford County Manor, especially shooting pool. He will be lovingly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are his children; Dale Young of Canton, PA, Deborah Phillips of Narvon, PA, Dean (Teresa) Young of Terre Hill, PA, Dixie (Lonny) Horst of Lititz, PA and Daniel Young of Lancaster, PA, daughter-in-law; Margaret Young of Troy, PA, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, a sister; Barbara Beardslee of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Janice, Mr. Young was predeceased by an infant son, three siblings; Joy Brady, Sandra Anderson and Eugene Young and a son-in-law; Joseph Phillips.
Visitation is 11 – 12 P.M. Saturday, May 5, at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton. Rev. Garry Zuber will officiate the funeral service at noon. Burial will be held Sunday at 1:30 P.M. in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in his memory to Bradford County Manor’s Activity Fund, 15900 Rt. 6 Troy, PA 16947.
