Aaron "John" Brown, 90, of Shunk, PA (Fox Twp., Sullivan County) passed away on Monday,
June 6, 2011 at his daughter's home in Muncy.
Aaron Anson Brown, "John" to family and friends, was born on December 15, 1920, in Shunk PA
and was one of eight children in the family of the late Hurley and Blanche (Bartlow) Brown. He served our country with the U.S. Army in Alaska during WWII and was a member of the Mildred American Legion.
John enjoyed his life's work in the logging industry. He and his brother Tuff harvested timber with teams of horses for several years. He also operated a farm in earlier years. In 1964, he married Joann (Miller) May Brown in Shunk. John was a devoted husband and father who will be always remembered for countless hours of guidance and encouragement he gave them. He especially enjoyed times spent with family, hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are his children; Mary Combs of Ithaca, NY, Lynn May of Philadelphia, NY, Linda (Ken) Hartman of Candor, NY, Ethel (Karl) Bruns of Dushore and Hazel (Dana) Tome of Muncy, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, two brothers; Clarence "Tuff" Brown of Canton and Kenneth (Marlene) Brown of Grover, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his beloved wife Joann who passed away on March 9, 2011, John was predeceased by a son, Elic M. May, a grandson, Michael May and five siblings, Letha Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Jesse, Elwood and Ellis Brown.
A graveside service and full military honors will be held 9 a.m., Thursday, June 9th, at the Brown Cemetery in Shunk. The Pepper Funeral Home, Springbrook Dr, in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, it was Mr. Brown's wish that memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
