Obituary

Alice "Jean" Harman, 88, life-time resident of Canton, PA passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on Thursday evening, March 1, 2018 at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.

Jean was born on February 18, 1930 at the family's home in East Canton.She was a daughter of the late John "Dean" and Lena (Harris) Landon.Jean was a 1947 graduate of Canton High School.A loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she was married to Gene Harman for 65 wonderful years before his passing on Oct. 24, 2014."Mr. Gene" and "Mrs. Jean" are again united.

For several years in the 1980's, Jean owned and operated a fitness center in Canton called Slender You.In earlier years, she sold real estate in Elmira and worked at Burk's Clothing Store in Canton.Jean was a life-member of Canton's Women of the Moose Lodge 981.She enjoyed being a very active lodge supporter for over 60 years and participated in their College of Regents.Jean was a member of Canton's V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 714 and the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ).She also served on Canton Township's Board of Elections.

She and Gene loved to golf.They traveled to North Myrtle Beach for many years to enjoy golf and warmer weather.Jean enjoyed many interests in life; she was an avid reader, worked with all kinds of crafts, played cards and bowled in earlier years.Special times were always spent with her family, especially the grandchildren. Jean will be lovingly remembered for her desire to help people.

Surviving are her children; Roger (Bena) Harman and Beverly Harman all of Canton, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, a half-brother, Gerald (Louise) Fitch of Ontario, NY, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Max (Shirley) Kalo of Monroeton and Janice Morrison of Granville Center, several nieces, nephews, cousins and she was blessed with many dear friends.
In addition to her husband Gene, she was predeceased by a brother; John "Thomas" Landon and a half-sister; Lorraine Burr.

Calling hours are 6 – 8 P.M. Friday and 11 – 12 P.M. Saturday, March 10, at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton.The WOTM will honor Jean with a service at 10:45 Saturday. Pastor Ben Hess will officiate the funeral service Saturday at noon.Burial will follow in East Canton Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Mrs. Harman's memory to benefit Parkinson's Disease Research.To: Michael J.
