Alice A. (Hoose) Monro, 85, of Coryland, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Bradford Hills in Troy. Born February 10, 1941, in her family home in East Smithfield, Alice Arlene was the daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Brown) Hoose. She attended Athens Area Schools, where she met her soulmate, Burdge Monro. They married on May 18, 1957, and shared 69 years of devoted marriage, raising five children together.

Alice worked in several local restaurants, including Our House Restaurant and Edgewoods. She later spent time as a stay‑at‑home mother before returning to work at Paper Magic, where she remained until her retirement.

She was an avid reader who also enjoyed word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Alice always looked forward to taking car rides and never passed up the chance to stop at McDonald’s for a cheeseburger. She loved the beauty of flowers and could often be found watching a good old western. Above all, Alice treasured her family and the time she spent with them.

Alice leaves behind her children; Kathy (Dean) Anderson of Waverly, NY, Jerry (Dawn) Monro of Leona, Alan Monro of Windfall, Burdge (Lee) Monro of Gastonia, NC and Laurie (Steve) Madigan of Towanda, grandchildren; Ryan (Cara) Anderson, Caleb (Tricia) Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Brandon Anderson and Tyrel (Chrystal) Madigan, five great grandsons, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

In keeping with Alice’s wishes, services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
