IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annabelle "Ann"
(Chrzan) Stanton Polly
September 17, 1933 – April 20, 2024
Annabelle "Ann" (Chrzan) Stanton Polly, lifelong resident of Sylvania, PA, was called home April 20, 2024, at the age of 90 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 17, 1933 in Troy, PA, to the late Frank Edward Chrzan and Margaret (Hayes) Chrzan.
Ann was a 1951 Troy High School graduate. On February 28, 1952, she married Edmund Stanton. Together they raised two children and owned and operated Stanton Asphalt Paving until his passing in June of 1986. She was also employed as a bookkeeper for Super Duper, later known as Hurley's Supermarket in Troy for several decades until her retirement. She then married Michael S. Polly on October 17, 1987, and they spent the last 37 years together. She was a dedicated member of St. John's Catholic Church in Troy and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 49 where she spent countless hours volunteering her time washing dishes and serving meals.
In the early years in Sylvania, she became known as "mom" to several neighborhood kids and by the friends of her own children. She welcomed all with open arms. She loved to travel and take rides. Traveling across the country and the annual trip to Myrtle Beach with Mike were some of their best adventures. Ann always hosted the holiday gatherings and made all the food for the family. She enjoyed playing Euchre with her sisters and the golf trip wives. She was always up for a shopping trip with her daughter. Ann also enjoyed making her weekly trip to Tioga Downs to try her luck.
Above all else, "Gram" as she was fondly referred to by the kids, loved her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the heart and soul of her life. She enjoyed playing board games with them, teaching them how to ride a bike, going for bike rides around town, supervising them at the pool, and attended all the sporting events to cheer her favorites on. Sleepovers at Gram's house were a common occurrence. Gram always had cold soda in the fridge, ice cream treats in the freezer, snacks in the drawer, and the candy dish was always full.
As difficult as it is to lose her, Ann's memory will live on through the cherished memories of those that love her. Surviving is her husband Michael S. Polly; son Edmund "Stub" Stanton (Angie); daughter Sheryl Stanton Angove (William); step sons Michael J. Polly (Alison) and Gary T. Polly (Becky); Grandchildren Kristen Angove White (Donnie), William Angove Jr. (Jessica), John Angove (Sherri), Christopher Stanton (Chrissi), Alex Polly, and Evan Polly; Great Grandchildren Craig (CJ) Stanton, Annika and Ellianna White, Leo Angove, Cali Angove, Marlee, Toby, Lottie, and Sunni Stanton; sisters Margaret Krise (Ernest) and Frances Chopak; special friends Bonnie Stone, Deb Stanton, and Deb LeVan; along with several special nieces and nephews.
Ann was predeceased by her first husband Edmund Stanton Sr., grandson Craig E. Stanton, brothers Vincent, Raymond, and William (Bill) Chrzan, and sisters Irene Stone and Katherine Westlake.
Services and burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Troy will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in Ann's memory may be directed to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 49, 183 Veterans Drive, Troy, PA 16947.
