"Art" Mahonski
June 13, 1934 – June 15, 2018
Arthur Stanley Mahonski, 84, of Blossburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2018 at the Green Home in Wellsboro.
Born June 13, 1934 in Blossburg, Art was a son of the late Leo and Wanda (Swinsick) Mahonski. After graduating from Blossburg High School in 1952, he served with the U.S. Navy during Korea. Art was employed as an electrical engineer with IBM Corp. in Owego for over 25 years until retiring. His memberships included Blossburg's St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and the Blossburg Catholic Knights of Columbus Council No. 216. He was also a long-time member and served as a former commander and chaplain of Blossburg's American Legion Wm. B. Wilson Post No. 572, the V.F.W. Post 8730 Supreme Sacrifice and Morris Run's American Legion Post 167 Theodore Roosevelt. Art was blessed with many friends and enjoyed socializing. His hobbies included gardening, being outdoors, bird watching and music.
Surviving is his wife, Jane (Bogaczyk), four children; Steven (Teri) Mahonski of Endicott, NY, Sandra (John) White of North Carolina, Nancy Derr of Owego, NY and Anthony (Holly) Mahonski of Apalachian, NY, grandchildren; Sarah, Kelsey, Dominick, Nicolette, Danielle and Natalie, great grandchildren; Reagan and Camilla, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife Grayce and siblings; Dorothy Swinsick and Rick, Gary and Joe Mahonski.
Visitation is 4 – 7 P.M. Monday at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, Blossburg Chapel at 314 Granger St. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, June 19, at St. Mary's Czestochowa Catholic Church in Blossburg. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors accorded.
