Barbara L.
(West) Manley
July 20, 1950 – June 11, 2026
On Thursday, June 11, 2026, Barbara Leigh (West) Manley, affectionally known as Barb, Mom or Grandma, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a well-fought courageous 14-year battle with cancer. Even when faced with additional health trials, Dementia and Parkinson Disease, Barb never lost her big smile that was loved by all.
Born July 20, 1950, in Towanda, PA to Elwood and Betty (Morgan) West, she was the fourth of nine West children raised on the family farm in Granville Summit. From day one, family was the center of Barb’s life.
She attended and graduated from Troy High School where she met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Manley. United in marriage on June 21, 1969, together they spent 57 years raising their family always loving and supporting each other and those close to them. Living on the farm for 9 years, they then moved to Troy to establish their forever home. A homemaker early in their marriage, Barb’s greatest blessing was raising her three sons. After years at home, she attended and graduated from Empire Beauty School in 1993. She began her career in Troy but soon after opened her own beauty shop in her home where she serviced clients until her retirement in 2016.
Barb ensured everyone around her was well fed. She enjoyed cooking, canning and baking where nobody could match the perfection of her chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed playing cards on countless evenings with family and friends. Barb relished the time spent with her friends, Mary, Luann, Sandy and Judi, creating magic by turning pieces of fabric into beautiful quilts. In healthier years, to know Barb was to know she loved shopping where she enjoyed the days spent with Tanya on their days out.
Surviving Barb is her husband, Dick. Her three sons; Darren (Nancy) Manley, David Manley, Kyle (Susie Place) Manley. Her Grandchildren; Brittany (Jared) Boor, Danielle (Clay) Morgan, Jacob Newman, Paige Manley, Eve Manley, Andrew Manley, Sarah (Jamie) Corbett and Erica (Frank) Paden. Her great-grandchildren; Everett, Colt, Lily, Samuel and Briony.
Also surviving Barb are her brothers, Gary (Kay) West, Terry (Marla) West, Kent West, Mark (Tammie) West, Marty (Connie) West; Sisters, Judy Shults, Diane Shults and Kim (Alan) Bastion. Brother-in-law, Roy Manley. Additionally, surviving Barb are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barb was predeceased by her parents; her in-laws, Harry and Elizabeth (Brown) Manley; brothers-in-law Frank Shults, Pat Shults and Ed Keefe; sister-in-law Cathy West; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Linda Manley; Nephews Troy Shults, Frank Shults, Dakota West and special niece Emily Bastion.
Special thank you to the fabulous caretakers that provided exceptional care to Barb over the last 8 months; Becky Burrous, Renee Belawske and Pam Brown.
Per Barb’s wishes, there will be no services; however, a private celebration will be held at the convenience of the family to honor Barb’s well-lived life. Pepper Funeral Home in Canton is assisting the family. Memories of Barb and condolences to her family may be expressed at www.pepperfuneralhomes.com.
