Barbara J. (Wood) Wilber, 79, of Canton, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Bradford Hill in Troy, PA. Barbara Jean was born July 9, 1946, a daughter of the late Charles and Agnes (Lewis) Wood. In 1963 Barb married her soulmate, Elwood Wilber, together they shared 59 years of loving marriage and raised 5 children prior to his death in 2022. She was a former member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429.
In her earlier years Barb enjoyed playing the accordion with her father accompanying with the guitar. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. Most important to Barb was her family and time she spent with them.
Surviving Barb are her children; Robert (Tina) Wilber, Debra Wilber-Machmer, Ronald Wilber all of Canton, Timothy (Elizabeth) Wilber of Philadelphia and Roxane (Gary) Fessenden of Millerton eight grandchildren; Quin, Gary, Tasha, Casie, Corey, Courtney, Tara and Matthew, great grandchildren; Alexia, Julian, Lucas, Elijah, Kylee, Damon, Tyler, Axel, Carson, Hadley and Emily, sister-in-law; Barbara Wood formerly of Blossburg, dear friend and brother-in-law; Cecil Wilber of Canton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, her canine companion Brutus and her beloved cat.
Besides her parents and husband, Elwood, Barb was predeceased by her brother; Miles “Mike” Wood and sister and brother-in-law; Cathy (David) Chilson, sisters-in-law; Phyllis Wilber and Velma Spencer and brothers-in-law; Lewis and Gary Wilber.
A time of visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A celebration of Barb’s life will follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barb’s name may be directed to the Grover Cemetery Association, 240 Carnwright Lane, Canton, PA 17724.
