Bonnie L. (Dempsey) Knecht, 63, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, April 20, 2026. Born on August 15, 1962, in Brookville, PA, Bonnie was one of eight children of the late Patricia (Sullivan) Dempsey and Clinton Dempsey Sr. She attended Brookville High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1980. Bonnie later married John Knecht, and together they shared more than forty years of devoted marriage. She worked for many years at Shop Vac, remaining dedicated to her job until her health no longer allowed her to continue.

Bonnie was known for her warm, social nature and loved spending time out with friends or chatting with familiar faces around town. Above all, her family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished deeply.

Surviving Bonnie are her son; John (Margaret) Knecht, grandchildren; Emily and Wilson Knecht, all of Canton, siblings; Pamela Douglas, Barbara Miller, Deborah Dempsey, William Dempsey Jr. and Michael Dempsey all of Brookville, sister-in-law; Susan (Stanley) Strong of Canton, nephew; Aaron Lineberry, great-nephews; Aaron Lineberry Jr., Thomas Lineberry and Jacob Lineberry all of Wyalusing, her partner; Larry as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, John, Bonnie was predeceased by her infant siblings; Mary Jane and Joyce Marie Dempsey, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Wilson "Willy" Knecht and Helen Knecht.

In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bonnie’s name may be directed to Pepper Funeral Home to help with her final expenses.
