Burdge
Monro Jr.
Oct 26, 1936 — Jul 14, 2026
Burdge Monro Jr., 89, of Coryland, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Bradford Hills in Troy. Born October 26, 1936, Burdge was the son of the late Burdge Sr. and Leah (Tice) Monro. He attended Athens Area Schools, where he met the former Alice Hoose, the love of his life. They married on May 18, 1957, and shared 69 years of devoted marriage, raising five children together.
In his early years, Burdge worked alongside his father, logging with horses. He later moved to the Canton area, where he was employed on several farms, including Frank Herman’s farm, before spending ten years at Swayze Folding Box. The job he enjoyed most was hauling milk for his uncle Coley Tice, as well as Jerry Hall, Gary Clark, and Steve Pelton. His farmers knew they could set their clocks by the exact time he would pull into the driveway for pickup.
After retiring from milk hauling, Burdge and Alice purchased their first home and settled in Coryland. He took great pride in keeping his lawn immaculate and truly enjoyed mowing.
Burdge leaves behind his children; Kathy (Dean) Anderson of Waverly, NY, Jerry (Dawn) Monro of Leona, Alan Monro of Windfall, Burdge (Lee) Monro of Gastonia, NC and Laurie (Steve) Madigan of Towanda, grandchildren; Ryan (Cara) Anderson, Caleb (Tricia) Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Brandon Anderson and Tyrel (Chrystal) Madigan, five great grandsons, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, and wife Alice, Burdge was predeceased by his two sisters.
In keeping with Burdge’s wishes, services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
