Joseph Conway
September 2, 1947 – March 16, 2025
Charles J. Conway Sr., 77, beloved husband of Kathy Conway, of Granville Summit, passed away on late Sunday evening, March 16, 2025, following a brief illness. Charles Joseph was born September 2, 1947, in Scranton, a son to the late Jospeh and Anna (Straub) Conway. He attended Dunmore High School and was a graduate of the class of 1965. On September 6, 1969, Charlie married his soulmate, the former Kathryn Capooci, in Dunmore, PA. Together the couple shared 55 years of loving marriage. Charlie was employed as an inspector for the USDA for over 30 years until his retirement in 2010. Charlie was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Canton.
Charlie loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and mowing his yard. In his younger years he always looked forward to hunting with his son. Smoking meat and cheese and making his own sauces were something he truly took delight in. Charlie was also an avid woodworker and a big Penn State Football fan. Time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his most enjoyable times.
Charlie leaves behind his wife; Kathy at home, children; Patty (Ron) Groover of Blossburg and Charlie Jr. (Kim) Conway of Anna, Illinois, grandchildren; Justin (Elizabeth), Mackenzie (Nick), Kyle, and Justin, a great granddaughter; Ellie, great grandson; Atticus, siblings; Marion (Arthur) Enslin, sisters-in-law; Carol Kerrigan, Judy Adams and Sandra Capooci, brothers-in-law; Salvator (Theresa) Capooci and David (Bonny) Capooci, special friend; Kara Bird, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by a brother; Joseph Conway Jr. and a brother-in-law; Victor Capooci.
A time of visitation will be held from 1 to 2 P.M. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A celebration of Charlies life will follow at 2 P.M. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
