Christine A. (Ambs) Morgan Rice, 87, of Canton, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Christine Ann was born December 25, 1936, in Williamsport, a daughter to the late Ralph and Hazel (Watson) Ambs. She attended St. Basil Parochial School in Dushore and was a graduate of the class of 1955. On October 12, 1985, Chris married Robert Rice Sr., at County Bridge, and together they shared 23 years of loving marriage prior to Bob's passing. She was employed at the Canton Area School District's Food Service Department until her retirement in 1998. Chris loved the Lord and was a member of the Ward United Methodist Church, St. Basil's Church in Dushore and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Canton.
Chris enjoyed reading and crocheting. She loved collecting Blue Mountain Pottery and Wade Figurines. Spending time with family and friends at timeshares was something she always looked forward to.
Chris leaves behind her children; Richard Jr. (Dana) Morgan of Gillett, Robert (Mary) Morgan of Canton, Marie (Steve) Watson of Groton, NY, a sister; Charolette (Jim) Eckman of Shaefferstown, step-children; Scott (Lorraine) Rice of Chesapeake, VA, Joy Winkler of Wellsboro, Rob (Brenda) Rice of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren; John Morgan, Cole Morgan, Travis Hurd, Brian Watson, Jessica Watson, Grant Morgan, Blake Morgan, Troy Morgan, Jeff Winkler, Nick Rice, Mandy Simon, Jesse Rice, Katelynn Rice, Brittney Rice and Kelly Rice, great grandchildren; Sadie Clark, Remington Clark, Evander Rice, Paige Rice, Bradley Rice, Rylie Morgan, Jaxon Morgan, and RaeLynn Hurd, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Bob, Chris was predeceased by her ex-husband and good friend; Richard "Dick" Morgan of Canton, daughter; Patricia Jean (Morgan) Hurd Gurbal, a granddaughter; Faith Marie (Hurd) Jacobsen, a great granddaughter; Lauren Rice, and sons-in-law; Mark Hurd and John Winkler.
A memorial service to honor Chris's life will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Ward United Methodist Church, 587 Church Road, Canton, PA 17724. Burial in Beech Flats Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Chris's name may be directed to the Animal Care Sanctuary, 353 Sanctuary Hill Lane, Milan, PA 18831.
