Obituary

Clara A. (Hurlburt) McIntosh, 92, of Canton, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her daughter. Born on February 5, 1933, in Wellsboro, Clara Alberta was the daughter of the late Albert and Clara (Williams) McIntosh. She attended Canton area schools and proudly graduated with the Class of 1957.

On August 2, 1950, Clara married the love of her life, William McIntosh, at the Canton Methodist Church. Together they shared 63 devoted years of marriage, raising a daughter and building a life grounded in faith, hard work, and deep affection, until William's passing in 2013.

Clara dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working as a private caregiver—a role she embraced with genuine compassion and purpose. She held to the Seventh Day Adventist faith and found spiritual encouragement through the Steps to Life Ministries.

Known for her warm kitchen and generous spirit, Clara loved to cook and bake. Her apple pie and homemade bread were cherished by all who were lucky enough to enjoy them. She had a heart that opened easily to others, always ready to help anyone in need. Above all, family was the center of her world, and she loved them with her whole heart.

Surviving Clara are her daughter; Linda Bowling, grandchildren; Dixie and Jamar Aiken, siter; Sharon Padgett, brother; Steven Hurlburt, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents and husband, William, Clara was predeceased by a son-in-law; Roscoe Bowling, siblings; June Graham, Dorothy Beck, Mable Kelly and Albert Hurlburt Jr., half bother; Charles Brown and her mother-in-law; Eva McIntosh.

In keeping with Clara's wishes there with be no services. Burial will be in Grover Cemetery at the families convenience. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
