Obituary

Constance "Connie" M. (Hancher) Baxter, 87, of Canton, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Constance Marlene was born February 20, 1938, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Marian (Hancher) Nowak. She was a 1956 graduate of Covington High School and after went on to state beauty school in Harrisburg, earning her beautician license. On August 28, 1959, Connie married her soulmate, Robert "Bob" Baxter, in Elmira, NY. Together they shared 38 years of marriage, prior to Bob's passing, and raised 5 children. Connie was self-employed for many years until selling her business. She was a member of the Canton Church of Christ.

Connie enjoyed sewing, reading and crafts. She loved maintaining her yard and tending her flower gardens in her bucket hat. Time spent with her family, especially her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren were always some of her most cherished moments.

Connie leaves behind her children; Monica (Vaughn) Hoyt of Mansfield, Diana (Steve) Worthington of Raytown, MO, Joy (Dave) Ward, Aimee (Jeff) Pepper and Robert Baxter all of Canton, grandchildren; Quay Ward, Chloe Ward, Wyatt Baxter, Toree (Evan) Stevenson, Ronald Baxter, Heather (James) Janes, Daniel (Teresa) Worthington, Ben (Jessica) Pepper, Chase (Connor) Pepper and Caitlyn (Darton) Pepper great grandchildren; Paislee, Paxton and Remi Ward, Gracelyn and Rowyn Ward, Abigail and Charlotte Worthington and Tase, Leo and Riggs Pepper, special sister-in-law; Donna Stamp of Casper, WY, special brother-in-law; Jim Baxter of Logan W. VA, special friends; Brian (Jodi) Peterson and Teresa (Tim) Scott as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her mother and husband Robert, Connie was predeceased by her in-laws; Dale and Emma (McNeal) Baxter and a step grandson; Christopher "Chris" Hoyt.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. to Noon on Monday, April 7, 2025, at pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A celebration of Connie's life will follow. Burial in the Park Cemetery in Canton will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Connie's name may be directed to the Canton Church of Christ, 170 N. Minnequa Ave, Canton, PA 17724 or to the Covington Church of Christ, 2225 N.
