Dale Thomas, 74, of Canton, formerly of Troy, PA passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Dale Westphal Thomas was bornon Armenia Mtn. March 17, 1940, a son of the late Raymond and Lena (Seymour) Thomas. He grew up in Troy and attended Troy schools.
Dale was a self-employed logger all his life and was a nature enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loading shells. On August 18, 1984, he married the former ShirleySwain in Mansfield.Dale will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him as a caring man who was always ready to help others. Favorite times were visits from his grandchildren.
Dale was of the Methodist faith, he attended the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) for many years. He was a life-member of Troy's Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; six children, Dale Thomas of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Pam Thomas of Dobson, , Melissa Thomas of Memphis, TN, Mike Swain (Lacy Wilson) of Hughesville, Karen (Rick) Worthington of Towanda and Susan Adams of Canton; seven grandchildren, Aaron Hulslander, Kaitlyn Worthington, Amber Bassett, Christopher Adams, Tyler Swain, Josh Swain and Nichole Raza; four great grandchildren, Kali Stewart, Camryn Roman, Collin Roman and Colton Roman; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Gordon Reese of Blossburg, Linda Thomas of Burlington and Elma Freeman of Baltimore, MD, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Dale also leaves his devoted feline pet, Missy.
He was predeceased by two sons; Joseph and William Thomas; a granddaughter,
Chortney Wilmoth; a brother, Eugene Thomas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl Freeman and Pauline Reese and a nephew, Paul Duane Freeman.
Calling hours are 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr. Canton. Rev. Jasper Smith will officiate the memorial service following at 2 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial to American Heart Assoc. 1704 Warren Ave. Williamsport, PA 17701.
