Diane J. Jenkins, 68, of Montoursville, formerly of Shunk, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, March 24, 2024, after a brief stay at the Gate House in Williamsport, PA. This followed a period of declining health. Diane June was born October 18, 1955, at the family farm in Shunk. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and June (Bagley) Jenkins. Diane spent her childhood in Shunk and graduated from Sullivan County High School with the class of 1973. She went on to Mansfield University where she earned her Bachelors of Science degrees in elementary education and in special education. Diane was employed most of her teaching career with the South Williamsport School District. She was a member of the Lycoming Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. In her earlier years she attended the Shunk United Methodist Church where she served as a children's Sunday School teacher for many years. Later in life she attended the Warrensville United Methodist Church until her health no longer permitted her to attend.
Diane was a very generous person, giving gifts to her family and supporting many Christian organizations. Although she had no children of her own, she sponsored many children in foreign countries through Compassion International. She cherished the special times with her family, celebrating holidays and birthdays. During her lifetime Diane enjoyed the companionship of her many feline friends.
Diane leaves behind her brothers; Allen (Joan) Jenkins of Mansfield and Mark Jenkins and her sister; Lana (Jack) Moody all of Shunk, her special nieces and nephews; Doug (Amy) Jenkins of Phoenixville, PA, Dan (Heidi) Jenkins of Mansfield, Steve (Heather) Moody of Troy, Ellen (Jacob) Kehres of Bloomsburg and Elaine (Steve) Dolak of Mifflinville, great nieces and nephews; Samuel and Matthew Jenkins, Grace Moody, Eli Moody, Maya Moody, Benjamin Kehres, Calvin Kehres, Annie Kehres, Caleb Dolak, Aaron Dolak and Alyssa Dolak, special friend and "cat Sitter" Barb Ohnmeiss as well as several cousins.
Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. Burial will be held in the Brown Cemetery in Shunk at the convenience of the family.
