Donna F. Holmes, 80, of Canton, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, January 15, 2024, at the Williamsport Home following a period of declining health.
Donna Faye Smith was born in Jersey Shore, PA on April 29, 1943, and was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Fay M. (Wolfe) Smith.
As a young woman, Donna grew up in the Windfall area on the family's dairy farm. She attended the Troy Area Schools and graduated with the class of 1961. Shortley following graduation, Donna married the love of her life, Norvin "Butch" Holmes of Canton. Together they shared 62 years of devoted marriage and raised two sons.
Donna was a hard worker; from her earlier years at the family's dairy farm to retiring from managing the shipping department at the former Paper Magic in Troy. Most recent, and not one to set idle, she again was employed by the former Troy Dry Cleaners for several years.
She was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ). Donna enjoyed many things in life; collecting Knick-Knack's, beautiful flowers, gardening and especially a good shopping trip.
She was well loved and liked by all those who had the opportunity to know her. Donna's family came first and upmost, she dearly cherished her husband, family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donna leaves behind, her husband Norvin "Butch" Holmes Sr., sons, Norvin "Mooch" (Janet) Holmes Jr., William "Will" Holmes, grandchildren, Ty (Ashley) Holmes, Cale (Avery) Holmes, great grandchildren, Wesson, Adelyn, Sawyer, siblings, Kathy Bradway, Richard Smith, brother-in-law, Rodman (Carol) Holmes Jr., sister-in-law, Kathy (Garry) Baumunk, several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by an infant daughter, Brenda in 1962, sister-in-law, Janice (Mike) Dieffenbach, brother-in-law, Robert Holmes, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rodman Sr. and Ethel Holmes.
Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2023, at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor George Ogden, officiating. Burial will follow in the Park Cemetery, Canton.
