Obituary

Duane O. Mattocks, 87, of Leroy Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with family by his side. Duane was born June 15,1939 in Springfield Township to the late Orton C. and Vivian (Thorp) Mattocks. He was a graduate of Troy Area High School class of 1957 and The Pennsylvania State University, Dairy Science Degree in 1961. After which he married his beloved lifelong partner and high school sweetheart Sandra (Harkness) Mattocks. Together they were charter members of Bradford County chapter of Gideons International; Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday School Teachers at Austinville Union Church; Treasurer and Committee members of CEF of Bradford County, and most recently, active members of Leroy Independent Baptist Church. Professionally, Duane was a Dairy Farmer, “Mattocks Farm,” Veal Grower, employee of PFA, Owner of Agri-Networx and 2004 retiree of Farm Credit. In retirement, he continued to provide accounting and tax services till the 2023 tax season. Recreationally, he enjoyed golfing and his love of traveling took him to all 50 states, Canada, France & Cameroon. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra of 65 years. Children, Elaine (Dana) Harkness of Platteville, WI, Linda Mattocks of Atlanta, GA, Sarah (Erik) Glick of Leola, PA, Stephen (Norma) Mattocks of Columbia Crossroads, PA, Sharon (Brad) Mahnke of Mitchell NE, grandchildren, Nichole (Simon) Galica, Christopher Harkness, Rebecca (Nathan) Schuetz, Stephen Harkness, Allistair (Natalie) Harkness, Bethany (Anthony) Hansen, Amanda Harkness, Isaac Harkness, Victoria (Cayden) Lasher, Sterling (Caitlin) Glick, Joshua Mattocks (Jenah Schwabel), Justin Mattocks, Jarod (Tori) Mattocks, great grandchildren, Rhapsody, Talia, Aleksander Galica, Abigail Schuetz, Isaiah and Emberlynn Harkness, Uriah Hansen, Altair Ilac, Mateo Lasher, Lucas, Lydia, Lainey Mattocks; and many other cherished family members and dear friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Phylis Shoemaker, Beverly Chapman, a niece, Susie Shoemaker, grandsons, Luke Stephen Mattocks and James Thomas Harkness. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Leroy Independent Baptist Church, 301 Mill Street, Canton, PA 17724. Funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held in the Bradford County Memorial Park afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Bradford County, Inc., 532 Old Mills Road Towanda PA 18848, Gideons International, P.O. Box 1000, Canton, Ohio 44702, or to the Leroy Independent Baptist Church, 301 Mill Street, Canton, PA 17724.
