E. James "Jim" Zwing, 78, of Smithfield Township, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Elmer James was born April 30, 1946, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Elmer and Mary (Graham) Zwing. He attended S.R.U. High School in East Smithfield and was a graduate of the class of 1964. In 1966 Zwingy, as known by many, enlisted into the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for 4 years as a Quartermaster on the destroyer USS Lawrence. Jim was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #520 in Williamsport, PA, and worked at many construction sites throughout Pennsylvania for over 25 years, until his retirement. He was also a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429 and the Troy Vets Club.

Jim enjoyed hunting and would always ask, "Did ya see any deer today?" as he loved hearing others hunting stories. He liked watching local high school sports, especially baseball. He was a LA Dodgers baseball fan and a NY Giants football fan. Zwingy was the person who always knew what was going on in the community. He was an easily approachable individual who was very sociable and always kind. Jim was the guy who was always willing to buy you a drink just to have a conversation with you.

Jim leaves behind his son, Adrian K. Zwing, daughters Betsey S. Zwing (husband Andrew Hatch), and Chanin Zwing.  He is also survived by a very special granddaughter, Zeeva, and so many special friends we couldn't list them all.

Jim was predeceased by his parents.
