Elizabeth (Betty) Johnson, 92, of Liberty, PA., (fromerly of Warwick, RI)went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 15, 2011, at the Green Home in Wellsboro, PA.

Born on December 10, 1918, in Providence, RI, Elizabeth Hope wasone of twodaughters of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Sanford) Long.

On October 25, 1941, she married Charles W. "Bud" Johnson. Her beloved Bud preceded her in death on November 28, 2004, following 63 years of marriage. Bud and Betty lived in Rhode Island for many years and later resided in Alden, NY, and Enfield, CT.

After early retirement, both Bud and Betty volunteered for several years at Camp Susque in Trout Run, PA. They later moved to Merrimac, MA where they were active in their church and local senior center. Summers saw them volunteering at Fireside Christian Camp in New Hampshire. In 1994, they moved to their son's farm in Liberty, PA where they spent the remainder of their years enjoying the beauty and quietness of the country.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Oregon Hill Grace Chapel. Her main interest in life was the love she shared for her family and Church. Betty was active teaching Sunday school and Release Time Bible Clubs in Rhode Island and Alden, NY . She enjoyed many things in life, especially entertaining guests, gardening, cooking, reading and writing letters.

Surviving are her four children, David (Maggie) Johnson of Liberty, PA, Sandra (James) Worden of Wellsboro, PA, Marsha (Melvin) Schmid of Haverhill, MA and Pamela (Steven) Gillis of Crystal Lake Il; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Tomassetti of Gaines, PA, Betheny , Caleb, Hannah and Naomi Johnson of Liberty, Mandie (James) Eime of Chicago and Matt Schmid of Maryland; several niecesandnephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Neola Taylor

Calling hours are Friday 6 – 8 p.m. at Zwicharowski Funeral Home in Blossburg. The funeral will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Salem-St. Paul Cemetery in Liberty, PA. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials in Elizabeth's name to Camp Susque Inc., 47 Susque Camp Rd. Trout Run, PA 17771.
