Elizabeth J. (Miosi) Baker, 82, of Liberty, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with her family beside her. Born on January 28, 1944, in her family home in Ralston, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ella (Moser) Miosi. Known to most as Betty, she began her schooling in Ralston and graduated from Canton Area Schools in 1962. In 1965 she married Howard “Sonny” Baker Jr., her soulmate, and together they shared 58 years of marriage and raised four children before his passing in 2023.
In her early years, Betty worked at Wundies Undies before choosing to stay home to raise her children, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and was a gifted seamstress. Betty loved the outdoors, especially the quiet moments spent watching hummingbirds, tending to her flowers, and taking in the simple beauty around her. Her life was rooted in her home and family, and time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren was always what she cherished most.
Betty leaves behind her children, Tony Baker (Diane Noyes) of Liberty and Christ (Donna) Baker of Morris; her daughters, Corine (Bill) Hilfiger of Covington and Nicole (James) Lewis of Morris; and her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren: James Jr. (Lindsey) Baker, Connor Baker, Jami (Josh) McCurdy, Justice and Joel McCurdy, Thomas (Danielle) Baker, Madison, Malekia and Morgan Baker, Lewis (Kjirsten) Meixel, Hoyt Meixel, Curtis (Chelsea) Meixel, Ella, Kimer and Cruz Meixel, Wes Baker, Lynn Baker, Megan Lewis, James (Mariah) Lewis, Amelia Lewis, Madison (Steve) Lewis, and Tessa Lewis. She is also survived by her siblings, Rose Smith, Donna Emmerick, Becky Moyer, Fran Zizza and Bill Meuse, all of Ralston; her beloved canine companion, Peppi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her grandsons, James and Zachery Lewis, and her siblings, Eldora Holden, Corinne O’Conners, Thomas Miosi, Joe Meuse and James Meuse Sr.
A graveside service to honor Betty’s life will be held at Noon on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Union Cemetery, Route 414 in Liberty, PA.
