Florence L. (Fitch) DeCoursey, 98, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. Florence Lillian was born May 5, 1927, in her family's home in Alba, the last of seven children to the late Robert D. and Florence L. (Frost) Fitch. She attended Canton Area Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1945. In 1946 Florence married her soulmate, Richard "Dick" DeCoursey and together they shared 53 years of loving marriage, prior to Dick's passing in 1999. She was a member of the East Point United Methodist Church.

Florence was a proud and independent woman who approached life with determination and a tireless work ethic. She worked alongside her family on the dairy farm until 1989, embodying the strength and resilience of her farm-girl roots.  She nurtured a thriving vegetable garden, and found joy in quilting, tending to her flower beds and caring for her beloved houseplants. Florence took great pride in her home and poured her heart into caring for her family, whom she adored above all else.

Surviving are her sons; Tracy DeCoursey of Williamsport and Lee (Karen) DeCoursey of Liberty, grandchildren; Matthew (Amanda) DeCoursey, Emmy DeCoursey (special friend, Francis) all of Liberty and Chancey (Amber) DeCoursey of Wellsville, NY, great grandchildren; Gigi, Mariah, Lena, Ruby, Lincoln and Ryan Eugene, her feline friend Mousie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins her caretakers (who adored her) and dear neighbors.

Besides her parents and husband Richard, Florence was predeceased by her siblings; Anna Moore, Marilyn Case, Robert Fitch Jr., Gladys Holmes, Nellie Harlan and Adelia Pepper.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, located at 578 Springbrook Drive, Canton. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Tom Harmic. Interment will take place afterward at Union Cemetery.
