Obituary

Forrest W. “Wayne” Geisler, 87, of Lakes Wales Florida, formerly of Canton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his residence in Lake Wales, Florida. Forrest Wayne, born April 13, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, was the son of the late Forrest and Nona (Zepp) Geisler. He attended Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland, graduating with the Class of 1958. On April 28, 1962, he married his true love, the former Dorothy “Dottie” Schoonover, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canton. Together they shared 64 years of devoted marriage and raised two children.

Known to all as Wayne, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1957 and proudly served for eight years with the 121st Maryland Engineer Battalion. In his younger years, he was employed for Barges Brothers Folding Box Company, then went on to work as a Howard County Maryland Police Officer, then later in life for Kimble Plumbing, Union Local 520 and Local 810, and Canton Plumbing and Heating, retiring in April of 2001. Wayne was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429, ATA Trap Shooting Association, Canton Rod and Gun Club, a life member of Union Local 520, and a member of the Wheel Inn Club.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved trap shooting and hunting across Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and New Mexico. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and had a lifelong passion for cars. He rebuilt his cherished 1940 Ford pickup and a 1973 Corvette, taking great pride in both. Wayne also loved racing, drag racing, and modified tractor pulling, always drawn to anything with power, speed, and skill.

Wayne leaves behind his wife, Dottie, at home, children; Charles (Carol) Geisler of Lake Wales, FL, and Catherine Kittle of Annville, PA, grandchildren; Tara Hassler of Harrisburg, Alicia Livermore of Annville and Anthony Kittle of Harrisburg, great grandchildren; Leila Hassler of Annville, Aiden and Alec Gumble of Mildred and Skyler Kittle of Annville, siblings; Ed (Priscilla) Geisler of Marriottsville, MD, Jerry (Lisa) Geisler of Glenwood, MD, and Joan (Dave) Wanex of Woodstock, MD, brothers and sisters-in-laws; George (Jean) Schoonover, Tom (Mary Beth) Schoonover and Tink Wesneski all of Canton and Mary (Larry) Herman of Roaring Branch as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
