Georgia (Spencer) LaMont passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 7, 1948, in Troy, Georgia was the daughter of the late Jay and Lilly (Kinney) Spencer. She attended Troy Area Schools and graduated with the Class of 1966. On July 14, 2007, she married J. Scott LaMont in Troy. Together, they shared 19 years of marriage and 36 years of love, partnership, and cherished memories. Georgia was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. Over the years, she was employed by Canford's and Shop-Vac in Canton until declining health prevented her from continuing to work. She also transported members of the Amish community, served as an EMT with the Canton Ambulance, and was actively involved with the Canton Fire Police. A woman of deep faith, Georgia attended Calvary Alliance Church in the past but became a member at Victory Church in 2015, where as a greeter she enjoyed welcoming others with a friendly smile. Georgia found joy in gardening, tending both vegetable and flower gardens. She was a talented seamstress. She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Whatever Georgia committed herself to, she did with dedication and determination, always giving her very best. She treasured the friendships she maintained with her classmates and looked forward each year to their class reunions. Above all, Georgia's greatest joy was her family. The time she spent with them, creating memories and sharing life's moments, was what she valued most. She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, unwavering spirit, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. Georgia leaves behind her husband; J. Scott LaMont, at home, children; Cynthia (Zoumare) Traore of Sayre, Nichole Orbeck of Illinois, Brian (Jeana) LaMont of Texas and Tamara LaMont of Turbotville, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, siblings; Donna (Ron) Wandell of Armenia Mountain and Connie Harkness of Kansas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her daughters; Susan Barrett and Lisa Krise and a brother-in-law; Doug Harkness. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 11 a.m. to Noon, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A funeral service to honor Georgia’s life will follow at Noon. Burial will be held in East Canton Cemetery.
