Obituary

Gordon D. Collister, 75, of Roaring Branch, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 4, 2026, following complications from a brief illness, with his loving family by his side. Gordon Duane was born on March 17, 1951, in Blossburg, PA, the son of the late Gordon and Viola (Vroman) Collister. He attended Canton Area Schools and graduated with the Class of 1969. On June 28, 1991, Gordy married the former Susan Route in Wellsboro, and together they shared nearly 30 years of marriage, building a life they loved on Pine Hill until Sue’s passing in 2021.

In his earlier years, Gordy drove milk truck for his father and spent time working on several local farms. He also delivered newspapers for the Orlando Sentinel for several years. Most recently, he was employed by Ward Manufacturing for 20 years, remaining dedicated to his work until his health no longer allowed him to continue. Gordy was also known to many in this and the surrounding areas for the impeccable job he did mowing their yards, taking pride in every lawn he cared for and treating each one like it was his own. He was a member of the Ogdensburg Church of Christ.

Gordy loved working on and restoring old cars, trucks, garden tractors, and pretty much anything with a motor. He had a lifelong obsession with burning rubber, always saying he was gonna “make ’em smoke.” When he was younger, he and his buddies spent days riding snowmobiles all over the area. He loved attending the Loyalsock antique tractor show and any farm auction that might have an old John Deere tractor to bring home. His garage was his happy place, where he’d kick back with a Twisted Tea, light a cigar, and get lost in whatever project he had going. He loved classic rock, especially Creedence Clearwater Revival, and he’d always say “That’s my jam” or “Cool man” while playing the air guitar like he was on stage. He was a jokester who loved having a good time and always looked forward to a night out at the Gemini with his wife. Some of his best memories were the times he spent with his grandson, Dalton, teaching him everything he knew about cars, motors, and John Deere tractors, especially how to make them go fast.

Surviving Gordy are his children Brandy (Bryan) Heatley, Ronnie (Dana) Vermilya, Brett, Wendy, and Misti; grandchildren Chelsey, Dalton (Maggy), Abby (Sam) Lyle, Levi, and Link; great‑grandchildren Raya, Madalynn, Timothee, and a soon‑to‑arrive baby girl; his sister Ruth Ann Merrick; sister‑in‑law Kay Collister; his beloved canine companions and best friends Rachet, Socket, and Jett; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents and wife, Sue, Gordy was predeceased by his son Trevor Collister and his siblings Lynn Williams, Virginia Lord, Kenneth Collister, and Joan Helm.

In keeping with Gordy’s wishes, services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
