Obituary

Harold E. Castle, 91, of Canton, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Bradford Hills in Troy. Harold Eugene was born August 3, 1934, in Shunk, one of eight children born to the late Benjamin and Leola (Edkin) Castle. He attended Canton Area Schools and on June 19, 1954, married his soulmate, the former Glecia Porter, in Leroy. Together they raised seven children and shared 68 loving years of marriage prior to Glecia's passing on August 5, 2022. Harold was employed as a crane and dragline operator for numerous years until his retirement in 1996.

Harold loved the outdoors and enjoyed car racing, camping and fishing. Working on anything with an engine and solving puzzles were also favorite past times for Harold. More important than anything was spending time with his family.

Surviving Harold are his, children; Dale (JoAnn) Castle, Norm (Cathy) Castle, Randy (Darlene) Castle,  Luann (George) Seeley, Craig Castle and Timmie (Carol) Castle, daughter-in-law; Lori Castle all of Canton, 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, siblings; Alberta Gates of Harrisburg, Clyde (Sharon) Castle of Gillett, Richard (Elaine) Castle of North Carolina, Avery Castle of Canton, brother-in-law: Glenn Henson, a sister-in-law; Sue Castle as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Besides his parents, Harold was predeceased by his wife; Glecia, a son; Duane Castle, grandson; Chad Castle, brother; Cecil Castle, brother and sister-in-law; Millard (Sue) Castle, sister; Darlene Henson, brothers-in-law; Harry Gates and Bud (Diana) Porter, sister-in-law; Lorna Castle and his mother and father-in-law; Gleason "Deak" and Gladys (Kipp) Porter.

In keeping with Harold's wishes, services and burial in Beech Flats Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
