Obituary

James Jerome Wynne, 86, of Canton, PA - With great sadness, the family of James Jerome Wynne shares the news of his unexpected passing on September 30, 2025. Jerome was born May 13, 1939, to Joseph and Adell Wynne in Gleason, PA. He was a graduate of Canton Area Jr-Sr High School (class of 1958) and served in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It was during his time in the military he met his beloved wife of 58 years, June Franklin with whom he had three children - Joseph (Canton, PA), Jefferey (formerly of Canton, PA), and Jeannine (Asheville, NC).

After returning from the military, Jerome took over the family business - Wynne's Garage in Gleason, where he sold and repaired farm machinery, and Wynne's Transportation - where he was a bus driver for Canton Area School District for 60 years.

Jerome was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, where he served as an Altar Boy, an Usher, and on various committees. He was a nearly 57-year member of Canton Lions Club, where he was a Past-President. He was a proud recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow for Dedicated Service to the Canton Lions Club. An outdoorsman and avid sports fan, he enjoyed hunting (he was a lifetime member of Mountain Run Hunting Club) and watching sports (he was a sponsor of the Ogdensburg Little League).  Jerome was also a member of the American Legion.

Along with his wife and children, Jerome leaves behind a sister - Marie Merker of Leroy, PA; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, numerous friends and "adopted family". He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Anne and his son Jefferey.
