"Jim" Vroman
January 27, 1946 – July 3, 2020
James "Jim" Vroman Sr., 74, of Ralston, PA, passed away on Friday July, 3, 2020 at the Gatehouse Hospice in Williamsport.
James Michael was born in Blossburg, PA on January 27, 1946, a son to the late Judson James and Margaret Ann (Collister) Vroman Bastion. Shortly following graduation from Canton High School, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and honorably served during Vietnam.
Jim was employed by Blossburg's Ward Manufacturing for nearly 30 years until retirement.
He was a member of the Deer X-ing Detachment of the Marine Corps League and the Red Run Rod and Gun Club both in Ralston.
Jim was an outdoorsman and avid hunter. He enjoyed local trout fishing, and riding horses throughout the area, especially with his beloved late wife, Barbara. He will be lovingly remembered as a quiet, caring man always willing to help someone in need. Family was always the most important to Jim and he truly treasured the times spent with them as well as his many friends.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife of 20 years; Barbara J. (Day) Vroman, and a brother; David Vroman.
He is survived by his children; James Jr. "Mike" (Christine) Vroman of Canton, Melinda (Lee) Starkweather of Blossburg, Gwen (Gary) Marshall of Liberty, step-children; Donald Sechrist of LeRoy and Ginger (Robert) Lyle of Forestville, NY, grandchildren; Skylee, Colby, Samantha, Chrystal and Andrew "Bubba", seven great grandchildren, siblings; Dawn (Gordon) Route of Roaring Branch, Bonnie Vroman of West Burlington, Russell (Bonnie) Vroman of Mansfield, Jean Takach of Canton, Mark (Linda) Vroman, Starr (Dennis ) McLaughlin all of Ralston, a sister in law; Robin Gardner of Linden, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 8th, at Ralston's Deer X-ing Detachment of the Marine Corps League's Pavilion, military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Jim's name to the Marine Corp League, P.O. Box 154, Ralston, PA 17763.
