James H.
"Jimmy" Coles
January 15, 1931 – July 18, 2019
James H. Coles, 88, of Troy, Pa., passed away July 18, 2019, peacefully at home while surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy, the only child, born January 15, 1931, in Schwenksville, Pa., to the late Dr. James G. Coles and Mila (Worthing) Coles. He attended Schwenksville High School and graduated in 1949. Shortly after graduating, James enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served during the Korean War as an Airman First Class. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Rothenberger on March 30, 1952 in Saxton, Pa. They raised three children and shared 67 wonderful years together.
Jim was always a hard worker. He was a union electrician of IBEW Local 380 out of Collegeville, Pa. for 37 years and in the summer months, aside from his full-time employment, paved and sealed driveways. Jim had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior. He was a life member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Saxton, Pa and a Deacon at the Heidelberg Reformed Church in Schwenksville, Pa. Jimmy loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and watching Nasar racing. He was also an avid antique collector. During his retirement Jim honed his talents restoring his many wood and metal antiques he collected throughout the years.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy, two daughters; Marti (Terry) Detweiler of Troy, Faye Kauffman of Towanda, son; James "Gaf" (Patty) Coles of Arizona, nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild on the way, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Dr. James Coles on January 7, 1955 and his mother Mila (Worthing) Coles on August 24, 1957.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive, Canton, Pa. with Pastor George Odgen officiating the service. Burial will be in Fockler Cemetery in Saxton, Pa., July 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. with full Military Honors Accorded.
