James E. Keckler, 84, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Bradford Hills Nursing Home in Troy. James Edward was born February 6, 1939 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a son of the late Leo and Flora Bell (Geer) Keckler. Jim, as known by most, attended Kalamazoo High School. He was employed by Invacare where he made hospital beds and most recently by United Pies in Indiana as a truck driver.

Jim loved tinkering on just about anything and puttering around in his shed. He took pride in his yard and enjoyed riding his lawn mower. His favorite past time was riding the country roads with Patricia looking for deer. The most kindhearted individual, Jim never hesitated to help anyone.

Surviving Jim are his significant other of 24 years; Patricia Kent of Rome and his beloved feline friend; Smokette.

Besides his parents Jim was predeceased by his canine companion; Muffy.
