Janice E. (Welch) Foster, 88, of Canton, formerly of Armenia Township, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Janice Eleanor was born on April 6, 1937, in Mainesburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Darwin Welch and Ruth (Nash) Sterling. She attended Mansfield Area Schools and graduated with the Class of 1955. Janice later earned her LPN Diploma in 1983 through the Williamsport Area Community College (WACC) Nursing Program, beginning a lifelong career defined by dedication, compassion, and hard work.

In her earlier years, Janice was employed with the Guthrie Clinic Mobile Unit and later worked in home health. She spent many years at Troy Community Hospital, where she cared for countless patients until her retirement. Janice found great joy in the outdoors, spending much of her time tending to her flower beds and nurturing the wildlife on the mountain. She especially delighted in feeding the deer and birds, which brought her happiness each day. In addition to her love for nature, Janice enjoyed bowling with the Tuesday Night Ladies league for many years. She was a person who always placed her family at the center of her life and loved attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Janice cherished every family gathering at her home on Armenia Mountain, treasuring these moments as some of her most meaningful memories.

Janice leaves behind her children; Gary Wandell of Horseheads, Debra Thomas of Wellsboro, Holly Wandell (Kay Pepper) of Canton and Amy Roof of Towanda, step-children; David Foster of Colorado and Shelly (Keith) Flesch of Hanover, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, siblings; Kenneth Welch of Granville, Phyllis Smethers of Mansfield and Charles (Linda) Welch of FL, step siblings Stanley (Deb) Sterling of Gillett, Steve (Sally) Sterling of Gillett, Larry (Shelia) Foster of Canton and Debbie (Michael) Pateski of Philadelphia as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and neighbors.
