John Bellows, 49, of Canton, passed away very unexpectedly due to an accidental drowning in Dauphin County, PA.   John Lewis Bellows was born on April 30, 1974, in Troy; he was a son of Paul and Norma (Gernert) Bellows.  John or "Big John as he was known to by many" was a 1993 graduate of Canton High School where he excelled in Warrior football. He later attended Wilkes University and for two years played ball for the Wilkes Colonels. John later joined the U.S. Army and honorably served our country until his discharge in 2004.

John was a big man with a big heart. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. John was also an avid football fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Surviving are his parents, Paul and Norma Bellows, siblings, Luther (Becky) Bellows of Pittsburgh, Corey (Bobbi) Bellows of Mechanicsburg, Adell (Kipp) Houseknecht of Roaring Branch, Amanda (Matt) Caldwell of Parker, CO., several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Lila and Louis Bellows and material grandparents, Jack and Juanita Gernert.

Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton A Celebration of John's Life will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in John L.
