John C. Knecht, 67, of Athens, formerly of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center. John was born August 7, 1956 in Sayre, a son to Wilson and Helen (Laudiero) Knecht. He attended Canton Area Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1975.  John was employed at various factories in the area until his health no longer permitted him to work.

Tinkering on anything electronic was a favorite past time for John. He was a musician at heart and played the electric guitar, mandolin and the banjo.

Surviving John are his wife; Bonnie (Dempsey) Knecht of Canton, son; John (Margaret) Knecht, grandchildren; Emily and Wilson Knecht, all of East Canton, father; Wilson "Willy" Knecht, sister; Susan (and Stanley) Strong of Canton, nephew; Aaron Lineberry, great-nephews; Aaron Lineberry, Jr., Thomas Lineberry and Jacob Lineberry all of Wyalusing; an aunt; Maryann (John) Masko of Delaware as well as several cousins.

Besides his mother John was predeceased by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In keeping with John's wishes services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
