Josephine I. Malier, 85, of Troy, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Josephine Irene was born April 2, 1941, in Casco, Maine, a daughter of the late John A. and Grace (Harmon) Malier. She attended Casco area schools and graduated from Casco High School in 1959. She then proudly served in the United States Army for 2 years, earning the rank Private First Class. Josephine worked at the Troy Stocking Factory and Paper Magic in Troy until her retirement. She then volunteered for the Area Agency and Bradford-Tioga Head Start in Troy until June of 2025.

Josephine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Heading back to her roots in Maine to spend a month with her family there was always a special time for her. Family was always of her utmost importance.

Josephine leaves behind her special friend; Ruth B. Overrein, daughter; Jodi Malier, granddaughters; Ashley Roupp and Harley Shedden, all of Troy, great grandchildren; Lilly Derech, Jordan Wright, Jacob Arnold and Skyler Shedden, sister and brother-in-law; Pam (Dan) Komulainen of South Paris, Maine, friends that treated her as a sister; Pat Overrein of Troy, Beverly Vickers, Dave and Duncan Overrein and their children all of North Carolina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of which were so special to her. She truly loved all of her family unconditionally.

Besides her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her sisters; Dorothy Rolfe, Olive Tripp, Sylvia Swanson and Barbara Gurney, and her brothers; John E. Malier, Patrick Malier and Theodore Malier.

In keeping with Josephine’s wishes there will be no services. Pepper Funeral Homes and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
