Obituary

Kenneth L. Machmer, 84, of Canton, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Bradford Hills in Troy, PA. Born on September 11, 1940, in Sayre, he was the beloved son of the late Lawrence and Millicent (Crawford) Machmer. Kenneth attended Canton Area Schools and, in 1963, was drafted into the United States Army. He honorably served for nearly two years during the Vietnam War.

On November 26, 1969, Kenneth married his soulmate, Barbara Busler, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Williamsport. Together, they shared 55 years of love and companionship while raising two children. Throughout his working years, Kenneth held positions at Bellows Valvair in Canton and S.P. Ward Foundry in Blossburg before dedicating 36 years to Textron in Williamsport, where he remained until his retirement in 2004. He was an active member of the United Auto Workers Union and a former member of the Canton American Legion Post 303.

Kenneth had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in hunting and long walks. However, nothing brought him more happiness than spending precious time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, at home; his son, Christopher (Agnes) Machmer of Moscow, PA; his daughter, Melissa Machmer (Paula Beiter) of Williamsport; his cherished grandchildren, Corey and Justine Machmer, both of Moscow, PA; and his brother, Dale (Barbara) Machmer of Canton, brother-in-law; John (Stephanie) Busler of Cedar Grove, IN. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care and support.
