Kenneth G. May, 78, of Canton, PA and former longtime resident of Leroy passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born on September 1, 1938 in Towanda, PA, Kenneth George, "Ken" or "Kenny" to family and friends, was the son of the late Clara May.He married the former Melva Reider on July 1, 1961 in Towanda.Ken was mechanically inclined and hardworking all his life.He ran loader and equipment for Jones and Brague Mining Co. for 35 years until its closure.He then worked at Pelton Trucking in West Franklin for many years and continued to remain active and semi-retired.Times shared with family were very important to Kenny.He also enjoyed visiting with friends at the local coffee shops.Favorite hobbies included working on vehicles and riding motorcycles.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Melva, two sons and a daughter-in-law; Scott (Jennifer) May of Troy, David May of Monroeton and Sharon May of Ridgebury, three grandchildren; Dillon, Tyler and Hunter, three great grandchildren; Connor, Riley and Kayden, two half-sisters; Dixie (Ed) Goodwin and Shirley Schuler all of Hawley, a sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Shirley Ball of Towanda, William (Doda) Reider of Towanda, Gerald Reider and Ronald Reider both of Florida, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Wayne May on Jan. 5, 2012, special aunt and grandparents; Frances Schultz, Robert and Nellie May; brother-in-law, Mike Reider and several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. – noon Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton.Rev. Ron Bly will officiate the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with burial following in Sylvan Hill Cemetery in Sylvania.
