Kenneth McDonald, 74, of Canton, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at home.

Born one of 13 children on October 1, 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ken was a son of the late Daniel and Helen (Gablonski) McDonald.

Kenneth received his nursing degree in New Jersey and most recently was employed by the VA Hospital in Bath N.Y. as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years until retirement. On May 5, 2006 he married the former Virginia (Stone) Avery in the Grover Church of Christ.

Ken enjoyed playing cards and a favorite was "hand & foot".

Besides his wife Virginia, Kenneth is survived by step-children; Lou Ann Smith of Wheelerville, Ronald Swimley of Gillett, step-grandchildren, Kristine Victory of Wyalusing and Shane Smith of Canton, four step-great grandchildren, siblings, Dorothy of Brooklyn, Joan of Fla., Walter of Long Island, Patricia of N.J. many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20th, at the Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr in Canton. The funeral and committal service will follow at 2 p.m. with his pastor Will Strunk officiating. Burial will be in the Beech Flats Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Grover Church of Christ, P.O. Box 83, Grover, PA 17735 in Kenneth's memory.
