Kenneth J. Utter, 89, of Granville Summit (LeRoy Township, PA), passed away on Friday evening November 23, 2018 at the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.
Born in Hainesville, N.J. on March 19, 1929, Kenneth James was a son of the late James Utter and Frances Drake. In younger years, Ken worked in New Jersey for many years as a heavy equipment operator. On June 12, 1970 he married the former Priscilla Blakeslee in Elkton, MD. Following retirement in 1992, the Utter's made their home in LeRoy Township where Ken continued to work part-time at his excavation business. Kenneth possessed a strong work ethic all his life. He enjoyed the outdoor especially his occupation, hunting and just keeping busy. Tinkering was a talent that came naturally.
Kenny was a proud life-time member and former Chief, of the Frankford Fire Company in Frankford Township, N.J. He was also a member of Branchville New Jersey's Businessman's Club and belonged to Engineer's Union Local 825, Springfield, N.J.
Surviving is his beloved Priscilla, his wife of 48 years, children; Frances "Ann" (Thomas) Courtright of Newton, N.J., Kenneth Carl Utter of Kingston, N.Y., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, three half-siblings, Janet (Pete) VanDaren of Burns, TN, Rose Utter of Gillett, Carl (Arlene) Grover of Rickman, TN, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbors.
Kenneth was predeceased by a half- brother, Myron Grover and two grandchildren.
In keeping with Mr. Utter's wish there will be no services. Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements.
