Obituary

LeRoy A. Denson, 82, of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at Corning Hospital in Corning, NY. Born on February 5, 1943, in Sayre, PA, LeRoy Alfred was the son of the late Francis and Wenonah Denson.

A proud graduate of Edison High School in Elmira Heights, Class of 1961, Lee, as known by most, went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. During his military service, he was stationed aboard an icebreaker ship in the Antarctic—a chapter of his life he remembered with pride.

After returning home, Lee married the love of his life on February 27, 1965, the former Cornelia "Corrie" deBruin. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage and raised three beloved children.

Lee owned and operated Lee's Volkswagen in Athens, PA, and also worked for Custom Mix Concrete in Lowman, NY. A hardworking and dedicated man, he was well respected in both business and the community.

An avid outdoorsman, Lee found joy in hunting, especially deer, and fishing. But his greatest passion was camping, a favorite pastime he enjoyed for over 50 years.

Lee is survived by his devoted wife, Corrie; his children, Wayne (Karla) Denson, Christina (Dave) Rose, and Brenda (Shane) Ostrander; grandchildren, Brittney (Ed) Kelley, Ashley (Kyle) Day, Elise and Chloe Ostrander; and great-grandchildren, Ryder and Kynslee Kelley, and Lily Day. He is also survived by his siblings, Wenonah Bedient, Ruth Hall, Millie Rarick, and Burt Denson, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Mary Smith; and brothers, Rodney and Warren Denson.

Honoring Lee's wishes, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton, is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Lee's name to a charity of one's choice. To share memories or leave condolences, please visit www.pepperfuneralhomes.com.
