Obituary

Marilyn A. (MacBlane) Gilbert, 77, of Canton, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Marilyn Ann was born on October 13, 1948, the daughter of the late James and Helen (Kohler) MacBlane. She attended North Penn High School and graduated with the Class of 1967.

On April 25, 1970, Marilyn married Lawrence Gilbert in Blossburg, and together they shared fifty‑six years of devoted marriage and raised two children. Marilyn worked for the Canton Area School District as a cafeteria employee for several years until her retirement in 2013.

Marilyn loved shopping and going out to eat, and Lancaster County was always her favorite place to visit. She enjoyed the farmers markets, the buffets, and the quiet beauty of seeing the Amish. Above all, Marilyn loved her family fiercely, and any time spent with them was her greatest joy.

Marilyn leaves behind her husband, Lawrence, at home, children; James (Danielle) Gilbert and Kimberly (Brian) Brown, grandchildren; Natalie (Matthew) Silvers, Brittany (Steven) Hankey, Dylan Gilbert, Briar Brown and Piper Brown, great grandchildren; Scarlett and Octavia Silvers, Luca Hankey and baby Hankey on the way, siblings; Thomas (Susan) MacBlane and James (Joan) MacBlane Jr., brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Carl (Brenda) Gilbert, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Amy (Rich) Sweigart, Joann (Earl) Chase, Carrie (Jim) Smith and Nancy Fargey as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law; Leslie (Audrey) Gilbert, brother-in-law; Chris Gilbert and a niece; Julie Smith.

Private services will held at the Pepper Funeral Home 578 Springbrook Dr in Canton. Burial will follow in the Beech Flats Cemetery. Memories of Marilyn and condolences to her family may be shared by visiting www.pepperfuneralhomes.com.
