IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn (Garrison)
Welch
September 20, 1934 – October 3, 2025
Marilyn (Garrison) Welch, 91, of Troy, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, October 3, 2025, at the Skilled Nursing Unit in Towanda. Born on September 20, 1934, in Mainesburg, she was the daughter of the late Rex and Mary Ellen (Smith) Garrison.
Marilyn attended Troy Area Schools and, not long after, married her one and only love, Emerson Merle Welch, on June 10, 1951. Together, they shared 67 years of devoted marriage and raised five children in a home filled with love.
She began her nursing career at Troy Hospital, where she later earned her LPN certification through a working program. Marilyn found deep fulfillment in her role, especially during her many years working alongside Dr. L.W. Brown, whom she truly enjoyed working with.
Marilyn and Merle enjoyed camping adventures and square dancing, forming lasting friendships and exploring new places. She had a special love for flowers, gardening, and crafts. Above all, Marilyn cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, loving sister, aunt, and loyal friend.
To all who knew her, Marilyn was a kind, gentle soul, sweet, special, and deeply cherished. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will be held close in the hearts of many.
Marilyn leaves behind her children; Susan Farrell, Denny (Debi) Welch, Mary Ellen Boubelik, Vonnie (Marty) Waters, sister; Carroll Passeri, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Emerson, Marilyn was predeceased by her son; Roger Welch, granddaughter; Libby Mae Welch Jones and her sister; Shirley Young.
A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A celebration of Marilyn's life will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
