Mary I. “Dona” (Kelly) Beers, 86, of Granville Summit, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Bradford Hills in Troy. Mary Idona was born on September 8, 1940, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Brocious) Kelly. She attended Williamsport Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1958. On Sept. 5, 1960, Dona married the love of her life, James Beers Sr. Together they shared 45 years of marriage and raised four sons and a daughter. The other constant in Dona's life was her identical twin sister and best friend Peg, from whom she was inseparable until Peg's passing in 2020. Dona was a very dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Granville Summit for many years until her retirement in 2003. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Granville Center Church of Christ. Dona loved making cards and reading. She was very active in the Green Free Library, the Leroy Heritage Museum and the Open Hand Grange. She also loved supporting all of the many activities in which her children and grandchildren were involved. Dona leaves behind her children; Katherine (Rolf) Rupprecht, James Jr. (Rachael) Beers, Thomas Beers, John (Lynda) Beers, Stephen (Sarah) Beers, grandchildren; Laura and Sarah Beers, Sydney and Nicole Beers, Allison (Cade) Smucker, Rebecca (Derek) Reese, Sadie, Sophie and Sage Beers, Christopher (Kate) Rupprecht and Dominic (Greg) Rupprecht, five great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Jim, Dona was predeceased by a granddaughter; Julia Beers, brother; Pat Kelly, sister; Ann Weston, twin sister and brother-in-law; Peggy (Ben) Bulkley and a sister-in-law; Hazel White. A celebration of Dona’s life will be announced at a later date. Burial will be private. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dona’s name may be directed to the Green Free Library, 38 N. Center Street, Canton, PA 17724, the Granville Center Church of Christ, 5753 Rt. 514, Granville Summit, PA 16926, or to the Leroy Heritage Museum, 10097 Rt. 414, Canton, PA 17724.
