Max W. Simcoe, 88, a long-time resident of West Burlington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with family by his side. Max William was born April 29, 1938, in Sayre, a son of the late John Simcoe and David and Louise (Williams) Ross.

Max graduated from Troy High School in 1956. On July 22, 1959, he married the love of his life, the former Norma May, in Franklindale, PA. They shared 46 years of marriage and raised three daughters before Norma’s passing in 2005. Max spent most of his life farming and driving trucks.

An avid hunter, fisherman and trapper, he especially enjoyed trips to Newfoundland and Wyoming with dear friends and family. He was also a talented athlete and accomplished softball pitcher who played, coached, and traveled widely for the love of the game. A loyal New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, he rarely missed the opportunity to follow his favorite teams. In his earlier years, Max also taught hunter safety courses focused on his knowledgeable trapping skills.

Max is survived by a daughter; Penny Ashley, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law; Colby Bellows and Tammy Loudanslager, grandchildren; Jaime Bellows (Dana Burgess), Kelly (Bryan) Watkins, Corey (Jillian) Bridwell, Mark R. VanHorn, Ryan Bennett, Blair (Karissa) Bennett, Chad (Lana) Bennett and Brandi Bellows, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, siblings; Donnie and Sharon, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, many special friends and daughters Patti and Tammy.

Besides his parents and wife Norma, Max was predeceased by his stepfather; David, a grandson; Joey Bellows, a sister; Shelba Wolfgang and a brother; Jack Simcoe.

A time of visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Drive in Canton. A memorial service to honor Max’s life will follow at 2 p.m. Burial in Bradford County Memorial Park will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
