IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michele A.
"Shell" Barats
September 2, 1960 – June 9, 2018
Michele A. Barats, 57, of Canton, PA, passed away at home while surrounded by family on Saturday, June 9, 2018, following a reoccurrence of cancer.
Michele, "Shell" to family and friends, was born September 2, 1960 in Langhorne, PA. A member of Canton High School's 1978 graduating class, she then received a Medical Assistant Associates degree from Elmira Business Institute. Michele was a "jack of all trades" person. Her working career included several medical positions, a Highway Escort Flagger traveling all over the east coast and a U.S. Mail Carrier in Canton Borough. Most recently, Shell traveled to people's homes for insurance exams as a Para Medical Examiner. Michele was also an avid outdoorsman, she loved the beach and was a farmer at heart. Also an accomplished gardener, landscaper and stone mason, she always had a "green thumb" and helped established the former LeMoore View Greenhouse in East Canton.
Michelle will be lovingly remembered for her cheerful nature. She possessed a hard-working, positive attitude in life, even through several adversities. Protective of her loved ones, Shell cherished the many times shared with her grandchildren and adventures with Scott.
Surviving is Scott Moore, her companion of over 20 years; three children, Lacy Morgan, Tiffany Ostrander (Tony) and Wesley Moore (Chrissy) all of Canton; seven grandchildren, Kylia Taft, Hunter Ostrander, Marissa Ostrander, Yelena Morgan, Kate Ostrander, Owen Moore and Avery Moore; four siblings, Steve Barats (Bonnie) of Canton, Wynk Payne (Don) of Bellevue, NE, Miriam Paskman of Maple Shade, NJ and Walter Woods of Canton, too many special nieces, nephews, cousins to list, her beloved pets, Otis and Puff.
Michele was predeceased by a son, Karl W. Morgan, Jr., "Buddy"; her father and special grandmother, Stephen C. Barats and Julia Dawicki.
Calling hours are 11 – 1 P.M. Wednesday, June 13, at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton. A memorial service will follow at 1 P.M. Burial will be private at a later date. Her family will provide flowers.
