Obituary

Miles "Mike" Wood, 86, of Blossburg, passed away on Monday morning, April 4, 2023, at the Green Home in Wellsboro, while surrounded by the love of his family. Miles Lee Wood was born in Sayre on August 14, 1936, the only son of three children to the late Charles W. and Agnes (Lewis) Wood.

He attended Troy Area Schools and graduated with the class of 1954. Shortly following graduation, Miles attended the former Mansfield State Teacher's College and in 1959 earned a bachelor's degree in music Supervisor. Mr. Wood accepted employment at North Penn School District as a Music Teacher, where he served many years until his retirement in 1992.
On June 26, 1960 Mike married his soul mate, the former Barbara Innes. Together they shared nearly 63 years of devoted marriage and raised three children. He is survived by; his wife, Barb at home, children, Christopher "Chip" Wood of Hyde Park, NY, Wenda (Tom) MacKinnon of Peabody, MA, Amy (James) Ivell of Kennerdell, PA, grandchildren, James (Elizabeth) Ivell, Elizabeth Ivell, Gabriella Silvagni, and Juliana Silvagni, a sister, Barbara Wilber of Canton, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Miles was a hard worker. He was a talented musician, woodworker and all-around handyman. No matter what the task, Mike could build, fix or musically play it.   He enjoyed camping and working around his house, inside and out. Mike could often be seen outdoors keeping his home and yard immaculate. He possessed a kind, helpful way that most would describe as being "neighborly" and was always willing to help or give knowledgeable advice.

His musical attributes include; The Spare Parts Brass Quintet, Wellsboro Town Band and the Franklin Silver Cornet Band (where he served as an honorary member). Mike was active in the community and was a devoted member of the Bloss Masonic Lodge 350 F&AM (where he served as Past Master) and his beloved Blossburg United Methodist Church (where he served for 34 years as choir director).

The family invites friends to call 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Blossburg United Methodist Church, 108 N. Williamson Rd., Blossburg, PA 16912. A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Wood's life will immediately follow with the Church's Pastor, Rev. Nate Reeve officiating the service.
