Obituary

Milton A."Mutt" Brown, 80, well known resident of Canton Township, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Milton Alfred was born July 31, 1943, in Sayre, a son to the late John H. Brown and Mable (Castle) Avery. Milton attended Canton Area School and then went on to join the United Stated Army Infantry Division where he served for 3 years. During that time, he received honors as an expert rifleman.  On August 29, 1970, Milton married the former Janice Roupp in the Ogdensburg Church of Christ. Together they shared 53 years of loving marriage. Mutt, as known by most, owned and operated his own construction and trucking business and most recently worked with Jeff Sechrist at BS Haulers until he retired in 2020. Mutt was a member of the Canton Moose Lodge 429 and the Canton Bowling Association.

An avid Bowler, he participated in the 300 and 700 clubs. Mutt was a true outdoorsman and fulfilled a dream of many hunters, the Triple Trophy, where he harvested a white tail buck, a bear and a spring gobbler all in the same hunting season. In his earlier years, Mutt loved to ride snowmobiles and go fishing. Most important was seeing his family happy and spending time with them. He loved his canine companions and most recently by his side was Shocky.

Mutt took great pride in the work he did whether it be farming, hauling veal calves, or other construction related tasks. He was a hard worker and instilled this in his children, making him very proud of the work ethic they all have. He was very dependable and to anyone that needed a hand, he would be the first to help out. Being a grandfather and great-grandfather was also very important to him, to those children he was "pop-pop" and they all loved him very much.

Mutt leaves behind his wife; Janice at home, children; Lisa (Greg) Castle, Martin (Crystal) Brown, Scott (Jill) Brown and Theresa Brown all of Canton, grandchildren; Dustin (Talia), Becca (Copy), Eric, Cody (Katie), Trisha (Damien), Britney (Adam), Lacey, Logan (Kenzie), Shannon, Victor, Coleman, Kaylynn and Kenna, great grandchildren; Chance, Bennett, Millie, Kinsley and Gavin. A brother; Kenneth (Edith) Brown of Canton, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his family, Mutt had a lifelong friend; Aldie (Rosemary) Fitzwater.

Besides his parents, Mutt was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Brown and two of his sons, Mark Logan and Donald Brown as well as several brother in laws.
